Candy Day: Sumter Lions are positioned at various business locations around the City-offering Lions
candy and providing the opportunity for contributions to help the visually and hearing impaired.
Shrimp-Oyster Roast: This annual event was begun in 1968 under tents at the county fairgrounds. A time of fellowship and great food, with the proceeds going towards Lions charitable projects of sight and hearing conservation.
Lions Fair Booth: Our oldest project, the Lions Sumter County fair booth was built in the 1940's, during WWII. This was during a time of
limited membership and material scarcities. Still today the Lions maintain a presence at the County's Fair, selling delicious fast
food to its many loyal supporters as they enjoy the fair. Again all proceeds support Lions charities.
Broom Sale: Begun in the 1950's, Sumter Lions was the first club in South Carolina to have a broom sale to benefit the
blind. Originally brooms where made by the blind in Columbia, South Carolina factory. Household brooms are available at selected business
locations in the city while quantity orders of industrial brooms can be delivered. All broom proceeds support Lions charities.
